Earth Day: Eco Friendly Fashion
As a hippy and farmer earth day is important to me! As spring is coming on I had a little time to type up a blog and have it spelled checked (sorry not sorry) for earth day because I have actually been busy celebrating earth day for weeks now by planting trees and seedling for my garden.
Although I have always tried to live environmentally friendly this past month I have become obsessed with cutting back on my plastic usage after watching this video....

Plastic out numbers sea life 6 to 1. The number one thing plastic is made of is oil and we use 17 million barrels a year to make plastic water bottles thats enough to flue 1 million cars a year.
a photo to show just how much trash is in the ocean.
Just some of the health problems from plastic chemicals like BPA .....
The thing most of public doesn't know about landfills and trash is that they do more for the environment than the everyday person! Because trash companies also own the recycling centers and legally have to take steps to keep the earth clean. Im not making them out to be saints but more so that the everyday person dose nothen. Recycling isn't enough we have to buy recycled goods, because everyday recycled good are trashed because there is no buyer! Recycled goods aren't more expensive because of the process it goes through but because there isn't enough buyers for recycled goods. We all feel so good when we put a glass bottle in the bin but are mindless when skip the recycled goods in the store. I know this because my great grandfather started a landfill in the 50's and my dad has drove a compactor and worked at a landfill since he was a teenager. He see's recycling being trash EVERYDAY!!!
so here are a few of my favorite companies that make good from recycled material.

NOW check out how kids are turning plastic bottle caps in to benches .... www.greentreeplastics.com
A BENCH FOR CAPS: an exciting teaching tool wherein bottle caps are transformed into benches that will last a lifetime. The true value comes from the profound experience that children can make a difference! They can see, sit on, and donate to their community the very results of their work. This is the most-perfect-real-life example of SUSTAINABILITY and it happens quite naturally as the kids can’t wait to share the story of their bench. Their enthusiasm engages ALL those around them in recycling… their parents… their grand parents… their neighbors… the next generation.
